Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I can't tell you how excited I am to meet your children and inspire a passion for education within them. We are going to fill every possible inch of our school day with creativity, innovation, and FUN!
I truly believe in the importance of a strong home/school connection and, therefore, am looking forward to meeting and getting to know each of you more over the next few weeks. For now though, I'd like to share a little more about me. I was raised in Southern California and received my degree in Child and Adolescent Studies and my credential from CSU Fullerton. My career began in Tustin where I taught Kindergarten and 5th grade over a five year span. Over this time, I became more familiar with the value of integrating technology into the classroom and the importance of depth and complexity within subject matter. These two areas will be incorporated into our classroom on a daily basis.
In 2010 I decided I was ready for a change! I have always loved the Bay Area and knew that moving up here was right for me. Orange County will always be home...but the Bay Area has my heart. I started working at Bel Aire in 2011 as a long term substitute in 3rd and 4th grade. It was instantly clear to me that this was a team and district I wanted to be a part of. Working collaboratively with such an innovative, cutting edge group is inspirational and I am confident that we are providing your children with a stellar foundation for their path of being lifelong learners.
I believe in fostering a classroom that provides every student with a feeling of community, safety, and respect. I also find value in ensuring students receive an education that enhances them both academically and socially. In Room E-8 we will promote the idea of teamwork and cooperation in all we do!
Just a few other fun facts about my life outside of Bel Aire: My husband, Andrei, and I are proud parents to our two little boys, Nico (almost 2) and Frankie (3 months). We spent the summer welcoming Frankie into our lives, while also visiting lots of fun, local activities in San Francisco. summer traveling to the east coast to visit family and doing lots of mommy/son visits to local music, reading, and yoga classes. In addition to being a mom, I also love to travel, follow baseball (Go Red Sox!), enjoy reading and, most of all, love seeing live music.
Please mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Thursday, August 29th at 6PM in the MPR. Hope to see all you there!
