Join us at 5pm tomorrow night at Bel Aire for our Family Challenge Night! The Paper Airplane Guy will be teaching us his tips and tricks for designing the best paper airplane possible. Then, we'll all participate in challenges against each other. Food and music will be provided to add to the FUN. Hope to see you all there!

Dr. Gold's 5th Grade Parent Meeting
In case you missed Dr. Gold's Parent Meeting last week, please see the attached notes to learn more about the physical, emotional, social, moral, and cognitive changes you can expect to see in your child this year. Very valuable information!
Field Trip Next Week
Your child should have come home today with a field trip permission slip to a children's movie from Australia called Oddball. This movie falls under the school subjects of arts & technology and it's helpful for students to hear from artists about their creative process. Please sign and return this permission slip as soon as possible.
Class Dojo Growth Mindset Series
We finished up our growth mindset series earlier this week and the kids loved it! They are currently working on adding their own growth mindset vs. fixed mindset phrases to our bulletin board. Please check out our class website to discover these with your child. Below you'll find parent questions to help drive discussions for the past three episodes. Please look up last week's update for discussion guides for the first two.
Episode 3:
1. Name a time you were afraid to ask for help. Why were you afraid? (Both parent and student should pick a moment to share)
2. How can you improve the phrase "I can't do this?”
3. Think of a time where you just didn't get “it.” What could you do in that situation?
Episode 4:
1. What part of the brain did you learn about today?
2. What did you do today to make connections between your neurons? 3. What is one big challenge you've faced that has helped grow your brain? What’s a new challenge you want to tackle now?
Episode 5:
1. Sometimes when we are working on a challenging task, we may think, "just try harder." Is there a way to change this phrase?
2. What are some strategies we can use when facing a big challenge, so that we don't burn out?
3. Brainstorm phrases we can use to keep us going when facing a challenge (e.g., "Nice effort trying to solving that math problem!").
Hoping you're all having a wonderful start to your week! Please read below for upcoming classroom and school-wide events.
